Faith Faith means different things to different people. I was not brought up to be a religious person, but I believe in God. I do not go to a weekly service but I try and uphold the values set forth by our creator. My faith in something greater then myself is nothing new, but when I was still in High School I believe it was solidified for the rest of my life. School had just been called off for the summer and my friends and I decided that it was time to celebrate. By the end of the night I was a passenger in the back seat of a car that struck a telephone pole going at least 100 mph. The car had flipped over and the muffler was inside with us. There is no doubt, that I was given a second chance. From that night on, I understood that my life should mean a lot more than it could have. When I am working on behalf of the people of Bangor at City Hall, I try and put myself in others shoes. I have been there and am a firm believer that we always need to see the best in people. Sometimes second chances produce things that turn out to be all right. Other times people are unable to take advantage of the opportunities for change. But, we should never stop trying. |
